Wonderland Class update

Just like that we are into the Summer Term! This week, we have began a new unit in English on Greek Myths and Stories. This relates to our new topic we are learning for this term, ‘The Ancient Greeks’. We came into our classroom to find bright coloured feathers around the room – this related to the myth Daedalus and Icarus! We looked at negative numbers in maths and conexts we may find these in. Finally, we had PSHE afternoons this week, and in PE we started tennis.

This week in Wonderland Class, we have completed our term’s topic ‘Guardians of the Planet’, by creating an animation of a food chain or a plant life cycle. We did this on a flip book first, then using the chromebooks and finally evaluated our creations. We made planting machines out of cardboard in DT – it was very fiddly, but we persevered! We also had a fun parent event on Wednesday afternoon, celebrating Easter with an ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’. Have a lovely break Wonderland Class and we will see you in the summer term!

Finally, we also celebrated Red Nose Day by wearing something red on Friday.

It’s been a very exciting week in Wonderland Class! On Wednesday through to Friday, most of us went to Hilltop Outdoor Centre, and well didn’t we have a great time! We completed many fun adventurous activities and made great memories. The rest of us stayed at school and completed a climate change piece of artwork, which we were allowed free reign over – we produced fantastic pieces indeed! We also went swimming Friday as usual, which was lots of fun as well!

This week, we have started composing a podcast in topic, about the impacts of climate change. We used our topic knowledge and research skills to write a script on this, and we will be recording these next week. In maths, we have been learning to exchange when subtracting- this is beause we don’t have enough ones, tens or hundreds in the column to subtract, so we exchange from the column on the left so we can subtract. We also finished writing our letter to Greta Thunberg in writing.
