Yousafzai Class update

This week, we have begun learning about the mysterious Mayans. We have explored how the Mayan civilisation was discovered by spanish explorers in 1519. We analysed some primary sources and used our historic detective hats to work out what these artefacts could have been used for (lots of us were surprised!). We’ve also begun geography; retrieving prior learning on the continents and also looking at what countries the Mayans settled in. This is known as Mesoamerica and covers 5 countries: Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. In maths, we’ve been recapping fractions in arithmetic and learning about ratio in maths. Our book we’re using in English is called ‘The Chocoplot’ – we’ve been using speech to convey character and advance the action in our narrative writing.
