Pankhurst Class update

We’ve had a really full week in school this week. It has been assessment week, and the children have all worked extremely hard in their maths, reading and spelling assessments. In English, we have continued to focus on the structure of leaflets and we have practiced modal verbs and writing in the subjunctive mood! In maths, we have continued to work on decimals and their equivalent fractions. We have studied history in topic lessons this week. We have investigated the importance of Mayan gods and goddesses, and we have looked at how the Mayans worshipped their gods. this included using human sacrifices, blood-letting, and partaking in festivals. The children really enjoyed sacrificing an orange! We have also had World Book Day on Thursday, and the children turned up in somne spectacular costumes ! Some of the year 5 children also enjoyed coming to the new chess club held on Tuesday lunchtimes.
