Head of School update

This week at school….

The Weather has arrived!

We have had a busy week in school and the children have adapted well to being back in their routines. We have been particularly impressed with how well our new Reception children have done in their first full week of school. From playing on the field with the whole Infant and Junior Schools, going to assembly and eating lunch in the hall, they’ve done amazingly! Please check out the class updates to see what they have all been doing.

Friday afternoon saw our Eco Warriors from Year 6 harvesting apples, pears and plums from the trees in our grounds and running a stall to hand these out for free to parents and children.  We hope you enjoy the “fruits” of their labour!

This week, we have also launched our new houses and points reward system in school. The children each voted for the House names and with 80% of the vote, chose to name our houses after book characters – Gruffalo, Potter, Paddington and Matilda. We have relaunched our reward points and the children will now receive Mundesley Merits! Our merits are a mark of excellence and can be earned in different ways around school and for reading at home. Each read at home will earn the children a merit, up to 5 merits a week. These merits can then be used to purchase items from the new Mundesley Merit Book Shop, as well as house rewards. See the assembly powerpoint on the website for more details.

Uniform: A further reminder letter will be sent out next week. We will be working with children and parents to support this.  If you have any queries about uniform please check the parent area of the website for information.

Coats and warmer clothing:  Now that Autumn has well and truly arrived please send your child in with a warm, preferably rain proof coat every day.  We are out with the children whatever the weather so they really do need a coat each day. We may call home and ask you to bring a coat in.  All the children have lockers so they can always pop them in their bag and leave them in the locker.  In addition, if children want to bring wellies in they may, though they will need trainers to go on the play equipment as wellies do not provide any “grip”.

Last day of term:  Whilst it may seem early, please note that the last day of this term is Thursday 20 October.  The term calendar is available on the website.

School Money:  The platform is now running normally. Please ensure you book your child’s lunches in good time.  If you do not book a lunch for your child, then we will call and ask you to bring in a packed lunch from home.
