Head of School update

Harvest Festival has made us all think about the things that we have to be grateful for.

At the moment it can seem quite difficult as we will all be aware of either ourselves or friends and  family who are feeling the pinch as the cost of living continues to rise.  However, as always we have been blown away by the kindness and generosity of all our families to help those with the things that matter and providing donations for the Food Bank.  On behalf of our community may be extend an enormous thank you to you all.

We had a lovely afternoon with our families at the Learning event that took place. Thank you to all the parents and carers that were able to attend and spend time with the children at school.  Hopefully you all had fun completing the activities!  Unfortunately, due to the rain forecasted we had to make a last minute change to proceedings, however, Reverend Joanna will be joining the whole school for an assembly the first week we are back after half term.

On Tuesday we welcomed prospective parents with children who are due to start school in Reception next academic year.  We are proud of our children and schools but it is lovely to have feedback from the outside.  All the parents commented on the quietness of the children, how attentive they were and we will hopefully be welcoming them to our community next year.  For any one interested, we are holding further tours on Thursday 9 November. Please contact the school office if you would like to book in.

We also saw our Year 6 children attending the Crucial Crew event which takes place annually.  Crucial Crew is a multi agency safety education event which involves the staging of theatrical safety serts for students to learn about safety by experiencing risk in a strictly controlled environment.  The event delivers age appropriate information covering aspects of fire safety, in the home, making calls and is hosted by Community Fire Safety personnel.  The children were really well behaved and asked some really interesting questions.

PTFA News: Wednesday evening saw children enjoying the PTFA Halloween Disco and Pumpkin colouring competition.  There were some amazing costumes and we will keep you posted on what was raised.

Lastly as we all begin a well earned break, if you are experiencing any hardship please let us know.  We have access to lots of information and resources and will be able to help in most circumstances.  To talk to someone in confidence please contact Trish Webster on 01263 720401 option 3. As part of an ongoing feature we will be sharing information and tips to help us all make our £’s stretch a little bit further.  This week’s link is to the BBC Good Food site with budget family meals for £1.  The choices include recipes and shopping lists for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. Please check out the link and have a look at it.
