Head of School update

This week….

Thank you to everyone who has already sent in their extreme reading challenge pictures – they are amazing. Don’t forget children and adults you can all send in your photos to the school office – we cannot wait to see them.  I think the winning selection may be hard to choose!

We are now in preparations for our exchange meeting with Bruce Grove. Our Year 5 children will be visiting London to see their counterparts in their school and then we will host them here at the Junior School.  It’s a unique opportunity to see a completely different school and enjoy the sights and sounds of our capital city.  We look forward to seeing how they all do.

Thursday saw the children join in with lots of activities to celebrate World Book Day. The costumes and Pj’s were amazing!  We had a big quiz in the afternoon and Matilda House won, with Gruffalo House the runners up.  Well done to all the children for participating. We have some great photos to see all of the effort everyone made.  Well done everyone! Don’t forget that the World Book Day vouchers all children received can be redeemed for £1 off at our PTFA Book Fair being held during the week commencing 20 March.  Keep your eyes peeled for more information.

Thursday next week sees Year 6 attend a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) event at Gresham school.  This is a unique event with schools from all around our region attending and participating in tasks showcasing these subjects.  We look forward to seeing and hearing about all they get up to on the day.

Norse Catering: As we are all aware there are some shortages being experienced in regards to provision of fresh salad items.  With that in mind there will be some changes to our menus to ensure the children receive high quality and  nutritious balanced meals at lunch times. As of Monday 13 March:

  • Packed lunch Menu – replace Cucumber Sticks with Carrot Batons
  • Packed Lunch Menu Fridays – Ham Salad Wrap will be Ham and Lettuce
  • Main Menu Week 2 Thursday – Salad Sticks will be replaced with Baked Beans
  • Main Menu Week 3 Tuesday – Mixed Salad will be replaced with Carrots and Peas

Swimming: please note that the Victory Swimming pool now requires all children to wear a hat in the pool. These can be purchased from School money for just £1.06!

Lego Vouchers – please can you hand in any Lego vouchers you have collected to the school office and please keep collecting!
