This week we have delved straight into our topic ‘The Romans’. In English, we have began writing a narrative based on the book ‘Escape from Pompeii’. We have used fronted adverbials, conjunctions and adjectives in our writing. We have also started a new handwriting scheme- cursive handwriting and I am very impressed with how well the children have adapted their handwriting. In maths, we have been looking at place value and what the difference is between place and value. We have been applying this knowledge to represent and partition number to 1000. In geography, we have used atlases to identify where the Romans came from and where they conquered. We have investigated how they invaded Britain and what made them successful.
