Well done year 6, you have all impressed me this week with your creative skills!!!!
In topic, we have been learning about shading and crosshatching and applied our learning to our own drawings of a Spitfire. At the end of our second session we set up an art gallery. Everyone was invited to select the drawing that really caught their eye and explain why. There were lots of compliments given and some very proud artists. In English, to conclude our work based on ‘The Lion and the Unicorn’, we wrote our own narrative stories set in WW2. An excellent effort was made by all- Keep it up!
This week has also been a sporty week. On Monday, 14 of the class took part in a sports leadership course, joining 4 other schools. The children learnt about different games that could be played at breaktimes and what makes a good leader. Their enthusiasm and conduct was a credit to our school.
On Wednesday, we started our Dance unit and explored the 5 basic dance skills ( Travelling, jumping, turning, gesture and stillness) which was great fun and on Friday it will be our third swimming lesson of the term.
In maths we have continued to consolidate our learning of place value by looking at rounding numbers. Next week we will be needing our tables knowledge so make sure that you are practising year 6!!
