Rosa Parks Class Update 16/04/2021

We have had a very busy but fun first week back! Our classroom was decorated over the Easter holidays and it looks fantastic! We are so impressed with it and love our new learning space. We have enjoyed getting to grips with our new classroom layout – we even have a sofa in the middle of the room which we all thought was very cool! We have enjoyed our new science topic on forces and have learnt about friction and pull/push forces. We tried very hard to pull two books apart but unfortunately friction got the better of us! We have been using our scientific enquiry skills to investigate how different surfaces can affect how an object can move. In English, we are writing a story based on the Pixar short ‘The Blue Umbrella’. We have written some amazing sentences which use excellent vocabulary and writing features. Take a look below at some of our writing examples.

As evening fell, cars scuttled by on the busy city streets unaware of the terrible storm darkening the sky behind them. It was as black as obsidian. Moving as a teeming crowd below, the umbrellas bumbled home – unhappy, glum, miserable. Out of the sea of melancholy, a glorious azure umbrella burst open. Joyful, he pirouetted with sense of fulfilment. Blue gazed around intrigued and inspired.

In mathematics, we are learning about multiplication. We have been focussing on the 2, 4 and 8 times table. We have written equations and even learnt about BIDMAS.

Just some quick reminders:

– We have PE on a Wednesday. Please make sure you come to school in your PE kit on these days.

– We should be reading at least 3 x a week. We will be putting a virtual reading record on our Google Classroom.

– Knowledge organisers and homework sheets will be sent out at the start of next week.
