Welcome to Emmeline Pankhurst Class
Welcome to Emmeline Pankhurst Class. We are a class of 27 year 5 children who are friendly and curious and who have a love of learning. Our teacher is Mr. Sharman and our teaching assistant is Mrs Page. We show kindness and respect to all and value being part of the school and wider community. In class we focus on learning new skills to help us become confident and resilient learners, and we always try our hardest at everything we do. We are really looking forward to new adventures in year ahead.
What are we learning about this term?
In our topic this term, we shall be learning about Freedom and Justice. We will be exploring the Atlantic Slave trade, understanding different forms of inequality and how to protest against these. In art, we will be looking at the works of Banksy and creating a protest inspired collage. In music, we will be looking at the musical 'Hairspay' and understanding how the music evokes change by performing a famous song. Later in the unit, we will be discussing the importance of the suffragettes. In science, we will be investigating electricity and whether we could live without it!
I really enjoy PE at school because I love sports. We get to use the football goals and the adventure playground during break and lunch times. This year, I'm looking forward to not being the youngest in the school anymore because I'm now a Year 4! In class, I'm looking forward to learning about some more history! I really love maths and I enjoy English.
English is my favourite subject because I like writing. I enjoy learning about new punctuation and today we even wrote a sentence using a colon! A colon can be used at the start of a list! I'm looking forward to learning new things and also enrichment! Enrichment is on a Friday afternoon where we get to choose which fun activities we would like to do. If you get to 'Oustanding' on our behaviour chart you can pick your activity first!
I enjoy maths most at school! This is because I like addition and solving problems! I'm not afraid to make mistakes because everybody will make a mistake one day and they help our brains grow bigger. I'm looking forward to learning even more about maths this year! I feel safe and happy in school because all the adults will always help me!
