Wow! What an amazing week we have had as a class! We have all written our very own stories based on the ‘Blue Umbrella’. Miss Croft, Mrs Hall and Mrs Calton-Patterson were so impressed with everyone’s writing that they couldn’t stop gloating to other members of staff about how amazing they were. We can’t wait to share our stories with you all soon. We have begun a brand new book this week too. It is called ‘Star in a Jar’.
We had a great first lesson learning about fronted adverbials, adjectives and onomatopoeia. Here are some example paragraphs so far:
One morning, he decided he would go rummaging through the local park bin and saw it was full to the brim. Crunch! Crackle! Clang! Tom scoured further and further into the bin until he reached the bottom. A little while later, he found something – an illuminated star. His heart almost skipped a beat in astonishment at his fabulous find.
One morning, Tom was sifting through a bin because he loved finding treasures. The bin was smelly and gross. Crunch! Scrunch! Crackle! Tom sifted through the manky, gross disgusting, rusty bin. Later that day, he found something he had never found before – a blazing, glistening, glossy star it was as bright as a sunset.
This week in maths, we have been learning about multiples of 3, 6 and 9. We spent Wednesday morning designing and stocking our own corner shops. We had to add in multiples of 3, 6 and 9 We had lots of fun adding up all our totals and enjoyed the spontaneous government updates which popped up during the lesson. On other maths news, we won our rock stars tournament against Year 3 and 5 last week. We now have to battle it out against Year 6 for ultimate champion of the school…we have until Monday morning to get jamming!
We have continued to enjoy our PE lessons and have improved so much with our attacking and defending skills over the last 3 weeks! We also learnt how to shoot and play a game with our teams. Next week we’ll be learning about the different netball positions and will begin to introduce the marking rules.
