Welcome to Redwood Tree Class

Hello everyone! Welcome to Redwood Class, where 26 eager students are set to become resilient, reflective, and resourceful learners. Our teacher, Mr. Wilson, and our fantastic teaching assistant, Mrs. Page, will be guiding us this year. After discussing our class rules during transition days, we’ve decided to embrace curiosity and creativity, respect each other’s opinions, and, above all, enjoy the learning journey! This term, our Topic work will dive into the fascinating world of the Victorians, giving us the chance to collaborate and develop as historians.

What are we learning about this term?

This term, our topic is called 'Victorian Vision.' Throughout this unit, we’ll be exploring the question, "How has the Victorian Era shaped modern Britain?" To answer this, we’ll focus on key areas such as: "How did poverty impact the daily life of a Victorian child?", "How are the Victorian times portrayed in art and media?", "What was the Industrial Revolution?", and "How were printing techniques used during the Victorian period?"

As a year group, we’ll dive deeper into the lives of Victorian children, the class divide, and the role of workhouses and factories.

Additionally, we’ll examine how the Industrial Revolution transformed seaside holidays, and in art, we’ll study William Morris and the impact of printing on communication in Victorian Britain.
