Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is extra government money which is paid to schools to support children's learning and development. We can support you in finding out if your child could receive the extra money. As a school, we choose how to best spend the Pupil Premium money and will work with you to make sure your child benefits from the extra funding.
The information below is taken directly from the Department for Education website. and explains what Pupil Premium is and how it is allocated. In the 2021 to 2022 financial year, schools will receive the following funding for each pupil registered as eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years:

- £1,345 for pupils in reception to year 6

- £955 for pupils in year 7 to year 11
Pupil Premium Plus
Pupil Premium Plus (PP+) is additional educational funding given to schools or virtual schools for children who are ‘looked after’ or in care, plus those children previously looked-after.
PP+ increased the funding for ‘looked after’ children and came into effect in 2014. For the 2020/21 financial year, schools received £2,345 per eligible child.
Who is eligible for Pupil Premium Plus?
PP+ is available to pupils from reception age to Year 11 in state funded education in England who:
- are in local authority care in England
- have been adopted from care in England or Wales
- left care under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO)
- left care under a Child Arrangements Order (formerly a Residence Order)
How is Pupil Premium Plus spent?
How PP+ is spent for previously looked-after children is decided by the school and it isn’t ring fenced for individual pupils. Rather, the funding goes into a collective pot to be allocated in the ways the school feels would benefit this group of children.
For looked after pupils who attract the £2,345 rate, the virtual school head of the local authority that looks after the pupil will manage the funding.
